Rafting Down the River

Experience the Beauty and Fun of the River

A short hop from Park City, river rafting on the Weber includes beautiful scenery, lush pasture lands, Class II+ rapids, and plenty of smooth stretches of water for just relaxing and contemplating how to get your raft partners wet. Throw in a little history lesson about the area, some dips in secret swimming holes, a lunch on our private river bank, and you have all the makings of a magical day on the river.

Destination Sports is the areas most experienced rafting company, for an adventure you will remember for years to come. River rafting is our favorite summer activity and our numerous repeat customers would agree it's the best!

Fun and Safety Are Our Goals

Our rafting trips run several times during the day. Our guides are all professional state-licensed river guides, know first-aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and are dedicated to you having a safe and wonderful experience. Depending on the trip, we usually have two to six guests and one guide in each boat. Our rafting trips are suitable for just about everyone; however, we do ask that our guests meet minimum physical ability standards generally accepted for the activity. Also, for safety's sake, we have a minimum age requirement of 3 yr. and a minimum weight requirement of 35 lb.

RAFTING F.A.Q.

Frequently Asked Questions Section

Q: Is this suitable for young children?
A: Yes, for children as young as 3 years old and a minimum weight of 35 pounds.  Plus, children age 3 - 6 raft and eat for free with a paying adult.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Quick drying shorts and shirt as well as river appropriate footwear like water sandals or old tennis shoes. A small backpack is suggested to carry personal items and dry clothing if desired. An adequate water supply is very important and we suggest you pack your own water bottle. But if you forget, we do have disposable water bottles available at the river.

Q: What should I bring?
A: Water bottle, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses with retainer.

Q: Can I bring a camera? Are there any special considerations?
A: We do not recommend that you bring an expensive camera or cell phone as it will most likely get wet. Waterproof, disposable cameras are ideal.  We do have dry cases for cell phones available for sale at the river.  But again, there is always a risk that anything you bring on the river could get wet or lost.

Q: Is there a shuttle service?
A: We do provide a free river shuttle with all rafting trips.  We also can provide transportation from your location anywhere in the Park City, Salt Lake City, Davis, Ogden and Huntsville areas, out to our river site in Henefer for an extra charge.  See pricing information above.

Q: How difficult is the adventures?
A: You must be able to get yourself in and out of the boat, walk up and down rocky sloaps to get in and out of the river, sit in the raft, and paddle.

Q: How big are the rapids?
A: Class I, Class II, and a lower Class III .  These rapids are not big and scary, but they have good splash potential.

Q: Do we tip the guide?
A: If you feel the guide has enhanced your outdoor adventure, a gratuity of 15 to 25 percent is appropriate.

Q: Can I fall out of the raft?
A: Yes. A safety talk is given at the start of every float trip. You will be instructed on what to do in the event of falling out of the boat.

Q: Will the raft flip over?
A: It is possible, but very unlikely.

Q: How do we get back to our cars?
A: We provide a river shuttle.

Q: Is this activity handicapped accessible?
A: No, but special arrangements may be made for some situations.  Please call for details.

Q: Do I have to paddle?
A: Guests are expected to paddle. Exceptions can be made if discussed in advance.

Q: How deep is the river?
A: It depends on water flow and location. The water level can vary from 5" to several feet, even over your head.

Q: Can I use my own life jacket?
A: No. Insurance and state law requires us to issue a particular type of life jackets and make sure all guests wear them properly fastened.

Q: Can I bring alcohol?
A: Alcohol is not allowed on the rafts.  You won't have time to drink while you're rafting anyway, because you will have a paddle in your hands and you will be paddling.  If you book a meal with us, you may bring alcohol to enjoy with your meal. We can chill it in a cooler for you while you float.  We do not have a liquor license, so we cannot supply any alcohol.

Q: Is there a minimum number of people required to book?
A: Half-day trips and private trips require a minimum of two people. All full-day trips, combo trips, and trips that include a meal and/or transportation, have a six person minimum.  For individuals and small groups not meeting the minimum requirements, please call to see if we can put you together with another group. Or you can pay the cost equivalent of the minimimum for a private trip.

Q: Will we be in a raft with other people we don't know?
A: Most of our rafts hold up to 6 guests, plus the guide.  You may be in a raft with other people you don't know to make the numbers work out best for the boats, unless you choose a private trip.

Q: Do we need a reservation?
A: Yes, you must make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance of your desired river trip date. Adventures on the Weber River are in high demand and space is limited on our expert guided trips. We strongly suggest that you make a reservation for your group as far in advance as possible to have the best chance of getting your desired date and time.

Q: Is sales tax included in the prices listed on the website?
A: Utah sales tax is not included in trip pricing.

Q: Is guide gratuity included in the prices listed on the website?
A: Guide gratuity is not included in trip pricing.  However, for groups of 6 or more, an automatic gratuity of 18% is charged.

Q: Do I need to sign a waiver?
A: Yes. We will provide this before your activity begins.  Minors under the age of 18  must have their waiver form signed by their parent or legal guardian.  Please let us know if you want us to email the waiver form so that you can complete it ahead of time and bring it with you.
