Horseback Riding in the Park City Area

Horseback riding around Park City and the Uinta Mountains is like taking a trip back in time to experience what this area was like before highways and cars. Relied on by miners, loggers, trappers, and traders, horses have been an important part of the history of Park City, Utah. Nowadays, horses still play an important part in life for ranchers and hunters.

Destination Sports has been providing horseback riding adventures for over 15 years.

Horseback riding is appropriate for all ability levels, although we do have some age and weight restrictions.
Reservations are required for all horseback riding tours. Please contact us with any questions.

Guided Mountain Trail Horseback Rides


$79 per person for a 1 hour ride.

$99 per person for a 2 hour ride.

TIME: Trips start at 9:00am, 11:30am, and 2:00pm every day in the late spring season through summer, until mid-autumn.

INCLUDES: Wrangler (Guide), horse and saddle

LEVEL: Beginner to Expert.

*Maximum rider weight is 250 pounds.
*This activity is not handicap accessible.
*Maximum number of horses available on each trip is 10.
*Restrooms and drinking water are available at the main cabin when you check in.

Experience the Uinta Mountains' scenery from a new perspective on horseback. You will get close to nature and see the countryside in a whole new way on one of our horseback riding adventures.  Traveling by horseback also allows for plenty of wildlife viewing oportunities, as you are more in tune with the natural surroundings.

Our most popular rides are guided horseback mountain trail rides lasting from 2 to 3 hours.  Your guide and wrangler will lead you through the Aspen groves, pine forests, and wildflower filled meadows of the Uintah Mountains on North Forty Escapes 10,000 acre private ranch.

For the ultimate outdoor adventure, combine your morning horseback ride with an afternoon RIVER RAFTING or KAYAKING trip!  Stop in the middle and enjoy a delicious catered sandwich buffet or BBQ lunch at our private riverside picnic area.

To book a combo package online, you will need to select and book a morning activity such as horseback riding, lunch, and an afternoon activity separately.  If you prefer to have it all on one reservation, please call our office at 435-649-8092 and make your reservation over the phone with one of our friendly agents.

We do have a 6 person minimum for transportation and meals.  But there is no minimum to do horseback riding or rafting.  If you don't meet the minimum for transportation and meals, then please plan to drive yourselves and either pack a lunch or stop at either the Road Island Diner in Oakley, or Subway or Polar King in Coalville on your way to the afternoon river trip in Henefer.

A: The minimum age requirement for horseback riding is 8 years old.

A: Long pants, closed toe shoes and sock that will cover your ankles.

A: Sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, camera, water bottle, and jacket on cooler mornings and evenings.

A: Sure. Just be aware that there is a chance it could get dropped.

A: No minimums.

A: Utah sales tax is not included in trip pricing.

Q: Is guide gratuity included in the prices listed on the website?
A: Guide gratuity is not included in trip pricing.  For groups of 6 or more, we auto charge 18% gratuity.

Q: Do I need to sign a waiver?
A: Yes. We will provide this before your activity begins.
